1920s Silver Vermeil Giardinetti Ring with Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire
A bountiful basket of beautiful flowers glimmers in an oval frame on this 1920s silver vermeil ring. Vermeil, also known as gilded silver, is a type of thin gold plating over silver. This "little garden" Giardinetti ring is adorned with bezel-set crude cut rubies, emeralds, and sapphires. The background features a basket and swirling wire resembling vines. The sides of the ring's frame are hedged with a repeating design of twisted wire. With its charming design, this dazzling garden of jewels is a sweet find. The ring is in very good vintage condition with normal wear to the vermeil. In this instance, the vermeil wear does not detract from the piece; it is highlighted in all the right places. As mentioned before, the stones are very crude cuts. When you closely examine under magnification, you will see that they are not all the same cut and some have a pock marks or inclusions. (see photos) The ring measures at a size 6.5. The face of the ring measures 1" long by ¾" wide by 1/8" tall. Tested silver. Weighs 5.1 grams.
